Education

Cal State University, Long Beach

In 2005, Dr. Gonzales graduated magna cum laude receiving a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology.

Southern California University of Health Sciences

In 2008, Dr. Gonzales graduated as salutatorian of his class. Here he received an extensive education of human anatomy, the diagnosis of musculoskeletal injuries, and chiropractic manipulative care.

However, he attributes most of his knowledge and expertise of sports injuries to his education after school:

“I smile when I to look back on my career. Graduating school I was confident… but I didn’t know what I know what I didn’t know. Along the way, I was fortunate to learn from other doctors, therapists, and trainers who opened my eyes to other aspects of rehabbing my clients.

I can say with confidence I don’t know everything yet but I’m sure I can assist any athlete at any point in their injury. Working in this field doesn’t mean I have to have all the answers… sometimes guiding athletes in the right direction are all they need. I don’t have to “fix” everyone.

I want my lasting legacy to be patient education and empowerment.

This is why have transitioned much of my treatment plans into active care programs over the last few years.

There’s nothing more rewarding that having a person’s light bulb turn on… and truly understand their injury.

Loss of control is what most people struggle with during an injury… the uncertainty and unknowing is worse than the injury itself.

This is where I specialize.”

Hobbies

When he is not working with athletes Dr. Sebastian loves to play baseball, triathlon, hike, fish, and drinking/ making coffee and spend time with friends.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Yesterday was my first visit seeing Mandy. I thought I knew what my issue was, and she had a different diagnosis I never considered. She spent an hour with me, doing exercises and tailoring a treatment plan for me. I still can’t believe how quickly her treatment worked; I went in with a limp, and I left pain free. She told me the pain would return, and what to do when it did. This morning I got up, did the exercises she prescribed and was able to run pain free. Thanks Mandy and Performance Place! Highly recommend!!” – Daniel S, Long Beach

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I worked with Mandy Wainfan after being introduced to her by a friend. I have been an athlete all my life and a few months ago I injured my back, it was at the point where I couldn’t move at all without pain. That’s where Mandy comes in, I have never seen a chiropractor before, But I would highly recommend Mandy and Performance Place Sports Care & Chiropractic, because she changed my life. The pain was at the point where it was really changing me leading me to feel really worn down and a bit of a jerk. After seeing Mandy I am completely pain free! I was doing stuff with her I had never encountered before and with her guidance and care my life has been completely changed!” – Edward T, San Fransisco

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “My son is a high school runner and has felt various growing pains and calf pain for over a year now, and was referred to Mandy by his high school running coaches. Mandy is a runner and coach herself, so she has a lot of experience and knowledge as it concerns to running. She really helped my son identify areas that were weak, related to his strength, balance and lower body and took a lot of time at every session to focus on creating a plan to not only help with the pain, but give him tools to proactively help with running preparation and managing moments of pain in between. You can tell she really cares and wants her clients to be successful in their sport. My son made a lot of progress toward health and I highly recommend Mandy as we are grateful for the experience.” – Joy W, Rancho Santa Margarita

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I went to see Mandy Wainfan for knee and hip pain that has hindered my running for months. After a thorough examination we did some specific exercises to help with lower back issues. After each exercise regimen she had me run a couple strides to see the results. We did this several times, each time the legs pain was reduced. We then did some therapy and after she showed me exercises to do on my own before each run and more to do regularly throughout the week. The work and advise Mandy gave me has allowed me to run again. Great experience with great results!” – Pat G, Long Beach

>Education

University of California, Davis

Dr. Mandy Wainfan graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior with an emphasis in Physiology. She was also a 4-year NCAA D1 Cross Country and Track athlete, competing in races from 800 meters to 6k. Outside of classes and running, Dr. Mandy participated in the school’s student athletic training program where she learned the basics of sports medicine and worked alongside athletic trainers to serve the UC Davis NCAA football, lacrosse, field hockey, and baseball teams.

Between the challenge of overcoming her own injuries and her experience helping other athletes return to sport as a student athletic trainer, Dr. Mandy’s passion for injury rehabilitation and active care was born.

Southern California University of Health Sciences

During and after receiving her Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Mandy elevated her knowledge in treatment approaches such as Neurodynamics, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, McKensie Protocol, Myofascial Release, Dermal Traction, strength and conditioning programming and periodization, and more. She continues to gain knowledge in these areas and strives to deepen her understanding about the “why” behind it all.
